GCC / Finance / Quarterly Statements

Printed volumes showing the proposals for payment submitted by the Rural District Councils and Proposal Committee to be submitted to the County Council, at various quarterly meetings. Also includes county-at-large contract proposals for payment,  under various sub-headings such as ‘Expenses under Disease of Animals Acts’; ‘Law Costs’; ‘Expenses of Valuation’; ‘ Salaries (General)’; ‘Salaries (Rural)…’; ‘Reformatories and Industrial Schools’; ‘Lunatic Asylum’; ‘Public Works’ ; ‘Voters and Jurors’ Lists’ (e.g. for printing and advertising);  ‘Court and Sessions Houses, Court-Keepers etc’ (e.g. ‘To James Nestor, Gort, one quarter’s salary, £2 and allowances for fuel and light…as Courtkeeper of Gort Courthouse’ (GC/F/4/5, p155); ‘Coroners’ Salaries and Expenses of Inquests’; ‘Loans-County-at-Large’; ‘Loans - District Charges’; ‘Railways, Navigation etc’; and ‘Compensation for Malicious Injuries (Separate)’ and ‘Public Works’ (such as ‘repair to county buildings’ (GC/F/4/5, p151).

Also includes several volumes of ‘Proposals for Works’ which detail the Council’s decision on the various proposals, i.e. detailing the works which were approved or held over for a number of months. These volumes generally include copy of agenda for and minutes of Proposal Committee meetings.

Useful for genealogical purposes, as includes names of various individuals and details position held and payments received.
