Town & Regional Planning Act: No. 1 Planning Scheme (Galway City Environs): primarily containing internal correspondence regarding the area to be included in the plan, includes a list of the proposed townlands to comprise the area adjoining the city to be included (15/09/1960), ‘Notices of Intention’ to propose a planning resolution, and material relating to the preparation of a plan under the Town Planning legislation, also includes an internal memorandum from the Co. Secretary, on behalf of the Co. Manager to the Co. Engineer setting out the Manager’s opinion of the proposals, noting that ‘…it is very important that the view of Galway Bay be not obstructed by a high density of buildings. A certain number of buildings can be permitted, as there are certain sites on which the buildings will not add to the obstruction by reason of the fact that there is already an obstruction because of the contours of the grounds. It will be difficult to restrict the building in their area as between different landowners….’ (19 September 1961).
Includes seven O.S. maps (sheets 81-83, 92-95, deposited in GCC (1961) showing the areas covered by the scheme enclosed in a red border (1,120 cm x 400 cm).
