Galway County Libraries Collection: Scrapbook
Scrap-book of press cuttings regarding the Carnegie Trust and county library relating to and reporting on issues such as censorship, lack of space, highlighting staff shortages, poor book stocks, advising on changes to opening hours, and reporting on Libraries Conference held in Galway in 1934. Includes at least two articles carrying a photograph of Maguire, Sam J. (first County Librarian), and also includes two supplementary catalogues of books added to the libraries in 1930-31, and 1931-32. The latter incorporates the catalogue of the Redington Memorial Collection (collection of books from Kilcornan House, Kilcornan, county Galway purchased in the late 1920’s). The catalogue combines in one alphabetical arrangement throughout author, subject, and more or less complete title entries.
The initial cutting 'Library Committee: Successful Inaugural Meeting in Galway' has ''Tribune 9th Sepetmber 1924' handwritten on it, however the actual newspaper carrying that report is 9th August 1924.
