Galway County Council uses CCTV systems to assist with public tasks, such as improving security, public safety, and preventing and solving crimes.
This policy covers the use of CCTV cameras, including both video and audio recording. It explains how the Council collects, uses, stores, and disposes of CCTV data. This includes cameras at Council buildings, recycling points, car parks, piers, plants, civic amenities, and other Council-owned locations.
This policy applies to:
- Any use of CCTV by Galway County Council that involves recording personal data
- All Galway County Council employees
- Any individuals or organisations working on behalf of the Council
