Fire Services Inter-County Agreements, primarily includes correspondence (early 1980s) between the various local authorities, such as Clare, Galway Corporation, Mayo, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary and Westmeath relating to the drafting and renewal of inter-county agreements (1976-1986), together with copy of minutes of the Fire Services Agreement meeting (18/04/1983).  Includes

• signed and sealed Agreements between Ballinasloe Urban District Council (UDC) and Galway County Council (GCC) where the former permits the latter to use its firefighting equipment and fire brigade at any time and also the UDC transfer the premises used as Fire Station (13/05/1950) and (19/12/1980);
• signed and sealed agreement between the Mayor, Aldermen and Burgess of the Borough of Galway (Dominick Street, Galway) and GCC (03-06-1950);
• Signed and sealed Agreement between GCC and Tipperary (North Riding) Co. Co. to permit each of the authorities’ fire services to operate outside their respective areas towards ‘effecting a more efficient fire fighting service’ (where neighbouring counties provide cover under the Fire Services Act) (20-02-1962);
• and similar with Roscommon Co. Co. (15-06-1966) and draft similar agreement, unsigned (1983); and
• signed and sealed Agreement between the Mayor, Aldermen and Burgess of the Borough of Galway (Dominick Street, Galway) and GCC (19-12-1980) with the former enabling the latter to carry out on its behalf functions in relation to fire prevention, such as those relating to dangerous buildings, to carry out inspections in relating to planning permissions and to provide reports and advise in relation to Fire Safety in respect of several quoted pieces of legislation.  
• Includes signed and sealed Agreement between the Mayor, Aldermen and Burgess of the Borough of Galway (Dominick Street, Galway) and GCC permitting the latter to provide an advisory service for Museum purposes to the Corporation, ‘in pursuance of the Public Libraries Acts and any Acts amending or extending same, and Section 59 of the Local Government Act, 1955… the Corporation and the Council agree (1) the Council will employ a Curator who will give an advisory Service to the Corporation and the Council  (2) the Cost of this service shall be apportioned on the basis of one-third payable by the Corporation and two-thirds by the Council’ (19-12-1980; see internal memo 04/03/1982).
