Fire Brigades: a general file containing circulars, guidelines, some Advisory Committee minutes (e.g., Jun 1965, July, 1969, June 1972), and correspondence, primarily internal between the Town Clerk of Galway Corporation, the County Fire Services and Galway County Council relating to a variety of issues, such as appointments to the County Fire Service Advisory Committee, boundary issues at the a new fire station in Galway (1956), provision of diving equipment for rescues from the Docks or Canals (15 Jan 1958); recruitment of additional firemen (1959-’60); fire precautions at hotels and similar buildings and inspections of potentially dangerous buildings (1963-1964); CFO’s annual report recommending that the number of retained firemen be increased from 16 to 25, together with a list of notable fires during the year (1968-1969); and correspondence relating to agreements with adjoining local authorities (1976).
