·Copy memo from the Acting County Secretary to the Co. Engineer advising that ‘A site was to be reserved at the Industrial Estate for a new Fire Station but the site has been built on...’ (14 Mar 1979);
·Letter from Galway Corporation to the County Secretary advising ‘that the parcel of land [at Ballybane] in question comprises of 2.5 acres on which the Corporation had proposed to provide 18 private sites. The cost of the land acquisition plus holding charges to the 31st December 1982 is £34,766 per acre. The cost of open space as apportioned to the housing development in this area is £1,176.00 per house based on the foregoing cost per acre…’ (9 Feb 1983);
·Copy internal memo from the Co. Secretary to the CFO advising ‘The County Manager has agreed to proceed with the acquisition of the two sites involved namely the site owned by the Corporation and the site owned by Dolans…’ (15 May 1986);
·Copy letter from CFO to Co. Secretary indicating ‘the proposal deserves scrutiny to determine its merits and advantages in the long term….
I would recommend that negotiations for the purchase of the necessary lands should be suspended until such time as a thorough examination has been carried out’ (4 Nov 1986).
