Covering letter from the Commissioners to Senator Mrs Helena Concannon, Salthill, enclosing a copy of a letter from the Commissioners to the Department of Industry and Commerce relating to an ‘Application for state grant of estimated sum of £370,000 for improvement of Galway Harbour’ (23^rd Oct 1947) and copy of a speech delivered by Mr Seán Lemass, Minister for Industry and Commerce on 2^nd September 1947, on the occasion of ‘his inspection of Dublin Port’.

• Black & White aerial photograph of Galway Docks and the surrounding area.  Several ships, with stream emitting from their funnels, are docked.  Galway Pro-Cathedral, and its adjacent buildings, are visible in the background.  The Commercial Dock and Dun Aengus Dock are marked with red typeface, and also a small section marked 'Cut', denoting which part of the dock is to be removed so as to join the two docks.
