Tomás Bairéad Papers, Letters of Appreciation, 1938 – 1873, Letter from Seán Ó Gruagáin
Letter from Seán Ó Gruagáin (a teacher) to Bairéad telling him about how much he enjoyed 'Cumhacht na Cinneamhna', and that he has searched Dinneen (Irish-English Dictionary) while reading it with a student and cannot find half the words used by Bairéad. He compares the joy reading the book has given him to what he felt when he read 'Séadna' (1902) (by An t-Athair Peadar Ua Laoghaire, who was ordained in 1867. He supported Davitt and the Land League, and the Gaelic League. Séadna was one of the first Irish language books first that was of interest to people. It was written in the simple Gaelic language of west Cork. (http://www.askaboutireland.ie/show_narrative_page.do?page_id=2000), and 'Íosagán' (1912) (a play by Padraic H Pearse), refers particularly to the nature stories and the richness of information in them.
