He compares the joy reading the book has given him to what he felt when he read 'Séadna' (1902) (by An t-Athair Peadar Ua Laoghaire, who was ordained in 1867. He supported Davitt and the Land League, and the Gaelic League. Séadna was one of the first Irish language books first that was of interest to people. It was written in the simple Gaelic language of west Cork.
