Proinseas Ó hEidhin: File containing letter from Fr Frank Hynes, O.M.I (Cross Street, Athenry, Co. Galway), to Bairéad, thanking him for his letter of sympathy on the death of his father, Proinseas Ó hEidhin (Captain of the Old I.R.A.), and advising that his father "had been ill since October but survived two bad bouts pneumonia due to my sister Una's loving care and attention" (p1), and that "He died as he had lived with great dignity, in peace and resignation. I am certain that he is now enjoying a well earned reward in heaven (p3). Also includes an appreciation card, and Newspaper article referring to the death of Captain Frank Hynes, Cross Street, Athenry, aged 85 years of age, giving a brief account of his life, his involvement in the Irish Volunteers and the 1916 Rising, "Having joined the Volunteers as a young man he helped Liam Mellows ((1892-1922), IRA Executive Member, commander of the republican forces in Galway during the 1916 Rising and War of Independence) to organise and train the Galway Volunteers for the 1916 Rising", "He wrote poems in Irish and English and he wrote plays…". Reporting that his funeral was attended by a large crowd "with a firing squade from Dun Uí Mhaoiliosa", with mass concelebrated by his sons, Fr Francis and Fr Terry, O.M.I.
