Rossroe Pier (Killary Bay) : Facilities provided consist of masonry pier and slip
Includes :
- portion of slipway 17 ft long & 8 ft wide had been washed away, repairs required, estimated cost £5.8.0
- 1951, slip damaged by tides, estimate repair cost £50.10.0
- 1971, Co. Engineer’s report on Pier, background information - works required - cost of repairs to quay and road retaining wall, £800; and raising of pier deck & completion of Fishermen’s Work £498.02, Dept of Agriculture & Fisheries provided grant for latter;
- (A) 1974, protective works at seaward end of pier and providing of light and ladders on pier required, estimated total cost £2,500, with Co. Co. to provide 25% of cost, and Office of Public Works remainder- proposed scheme considered inadequate, additional works required; works required cost estimated £6,000 (1976), correspondence relating to increased estimated cost and payment of Co. Co’s contribution;
- 1978, signed & sealed agreement certifying works have been completed;
- (B) 1979, installation of pier light; and
- 1981, total cost of (a) & (B) was £9,397.02, with Co. Co. contributing £2,498.54, remainder (75%) paid by Dept of Fisheries.
