Volume with drawings (pasted into it) with captions, of various scenes and objects in Galway city and its environs, several of which were used in Hardiman's ‘History of Galway’ (published in 1820). The artist’s name or initial is often given together with the date. Most of the drawings (used for engraved illustrations in Hardiman’s History) are monochrome but one has a slight colour tint.

Hardiman advised readers in a postscript in his book that ‘With respect of the Engravings, no pains have been spared that they should be properly executed, and that the drawings should be correct. The distant prospect of Galway, and the views of the church, Lynch’s castle, the county court-house, bridge, and prison, were taken by an ingenious artist, brought from Dublin solely for the purpose…The principal engravings have been executed by some of the best engravers which Dublin could afford’’.
