The Planning Office is open to the Public.
Enquiries regarding planning matters can be made by phone (091) 509308 or by email to Planning Contact Details
Hard Copy Planning Applications or other hard copy planning documents can be submitted either by post or dropped into the Planning Counter in an envelope clearly marked “Planning Application/Documents” in the box on the Main Planning Counter. All documents will be dated, receipted, stamped and scanned accordingly.
Submissions/Observations on both Online and Hard Copy planning applications can be made in writing and submitted by any of the following methods:
- Making a Submission to a planning application online (before 11:59pm on last day) OR
- Email to planning@galwaycoco.ie (before close of business) OR
- Post OR
- By submitting them at the Planning Counter (before close of business)
A fee of €20.00 is applicable. Payment can be made by cheque/postal order or by credit/debit card over the telephone upon receipt of the submission in the office. Please check the submission closing date and allow sufficient time for receipt of same.

The Planning & Development Act 2000, provides that planning permission is required for all development other than that exempted by statute and regulations. Leaflets on the Planning System are available here.
The word Development is defined as "the carrying out of works on in over or under land or the making of any material change in the use of any structure or other land".
