General Election 2024 - Constituency Changes in Galway-East and Roscommon-Galway
In accordance with the Electoral (Amendment) Act 2023, a number of Electoral Divisions have
been transferred from the Dáil Constituency of Roscommon-Galway to the Dáil Constituency of
Galway East. The changes come into effect for the General Election on 29th November 2024. The
Franchise Section Galway County Council wish to advise electors of the following changes:
7 Polling Districts remain in the Dáil Constituency of Roscommon-Galway
Electors who normally vote at the following polling stations will remain in the Dáil Constituency of
Roscommon-Galway. Electors’ polling stations will remain unchanged.
• Scoil an Chroí Naofa Ballinasloe
• Creggs NS
• Killure NS
• Castlefrench NS
• Ballygar NS
• Glinsk NS
• Fr. Flanagan Centre Ballymoe
23 Polling Districts are transferred to the Dáil Constituency of Galway East.
Electors who normally vote at the following polling stations are now transferred to the Dáil
Constituency of Galway-East. Electors’ polling stations will remain unchanged.
• Aughrim N.S.
• Ballaghlea N.S.
• Ballymacward Community Hall
• Caltra N.S.
• Cappataggle N.S.
• Castleblakney N.S.
• Clonberne N.S.
• Dunmore N.S. (2 PDs)
• Fohenagh N.S.
• Garrafrauns N.S.
• Glenamaddy N.S
• Gortaleam N.S.
• Kilconnell N.S.
• Kilglass N.S.
• Kilkerrin N.S.
• Killallaghtan Hall
• Mountbellew N.S. (2 PDs)
• Moylough N.S.
• New Inn N.S. (2 PDs)
• Windfield N.S.
4 Polling Districts are split between Dáil Constituencies of Galway East and Roscommon-Galway
Some electors who previously voted at the following polling stations will be assigned to a
new polling station in line with the constituency changes.
• Ahascragh Old school
Electors from the Electoral Division of Clonbrock will be assigned to Kilglass NS in the
Dáil Constituency of Galway East.
• Ardeevin NS
Electors from the Electoral Division of Kilcroan will be assigned to Fr. Flanagan Centre
Ballymoe in the Dáil Constituency of Roscommon-Galway.
• Williamstown N.S.
Electors from the Electoral Divisions of Templetogher and Ballinastack will be assigned
to Ardeevin NS in the Dáil Constituency of Galway East.
• Clontuskert NS
The Polling Station at Clontuskert NS will host polling booths for both Dáil Constituencies
of Galway East and Roscommon-Galway.
• Electors from the Electoral Divisions of Lismanny, Kylemore and Kellysgrove in the
Dáil Constituency of Roscommon-Galway will be assigned to Clontuskert NS 2.
• Electors from the Electoral Division of Clontuskert in the Dáil Constituency of
Galway East will be assigned to Clontuskert NS 1.
Polling Staff on the day will direct electors to the relevant polling booth for their constituency.
The Franchise Section Galway County Council has written directly to over 14,000 Electors to
advise of the Dáil Constituency boundary changes and changes to electors’ polling stations.
All electors are strongly advised to check their polling cards and take note of their
assigned polling station. Polling cards are in the post. A person whose name is on the Register
but does not receive a card can still attend their polling station to vote. Electors should ensure
they bring a valid form of personal identification. eg a passport, or a current driving licence.
Polling stations will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm on Friday 29th November 2024.
Electors are reminded that no further amendments can be made to the Register of Electors. The
statutory deadline for additions to the Register was 12th November 2024.
