Minister's Direction Pursuant
to Section 31

The Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 31 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (No. 3000 ) (“the Act”), and the Housing, Local Government, and Heritage (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2024 and (S.I No. 234 of 2024) and consequent to a recommendation made to him by the Office of the Planning Regulator under section 31AP(4) of the Act, issued a Direction to Galway County Council on matters relating to the Loughrea Local Area Plan 2024-2030 on 9th December 2024. Consequently, all zonings, policy objectives and additional provisions which were the subject of the Direction will be amended accordingly.

Loughrea Local Area Plan 2024-2030

NOTICE OF MAKING OF THE LOUGHREA LOCAL AREA PLAN 2024 – 2030

in accordance with:

Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended

Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended

Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004, as amended

Notice is hereby given that the Loughrea Local Area Plan 2024 – 2030 was adopted by the Loughrea Municipal District Members at their meeting on the 15th July 2024 and came into effect on the 26th August 2024.

The Loughrea Local Area Plan 2024 – 2030 is a statutory document prepared by the Planning Authority in accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended).

The Loughrea Local Area Plan 2024 – 2030 is accompanied by a Local Transport Plan. The plan also includes Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report, prepared in accordance with the Planning and Development (SEA) Regulations 2004 (as amended), an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Natura Impact Report, pursuant to Article 6 of the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC. The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) prepared in accordance with The Planning System and Flood Risk Management Guidelines 2009. The Strategic Environmental Statement (SEA) which accompanies the Plan contains information on how environmental consideration has been integrated into the Plan.
