The Municipal District of Tuam Community Support Capital Fund is a scheme funded by the Local Property Tax for the purpose of supporting the delivery of community capital projects.
The fund will provide match-funding for new facilities or improvements to existing facilities which address a specific deficit in social infrastructure, particularly facilities which support children, youth or older people.
Applications are invited for funding towards Community Capital Projects which benefit local communities throughout The Municipal District of Tuam.

The Municipal District of Tuam and Galway County Council recognises that local communities are one of our greatest resources, and in recognition of this, has developed the Community Support Capital Fund to provide financial support by means of match-funding for community capital projects.
Requirements:
- Application Forms must be fully completed via Galway County Council – incomplete forms or applications without required compulsory documentation will not be considered.
- Please ensure that the Group Name you enter on your online application is the legal name of your Group, i.e., same as that on your Bank Account and Supplier Set-Up Form.
- It is recommended that an e-mail account in the group’s name be set up for the online grant application process (instead of personal e-mail addresses which can change over time).
- All Groups must be properly constituted and if requested, must provide evidence of a constitution, registration as a voluntary group for tax purposes, or any other additional documents/photos required to fully establish their status.
- Applicants must comply with all funding deadlines for application & drawdown stages, and if successful, cannot change their approved project without prior consent.
Compulsory Documentation:
- Copy of your most up-to-date Bank/Credit Union Account Statement in the official/legal name of your Group.
- Proof of Public Liability Insurance Policy with indemnification to Galway County Council (community playgrounds insured under Galway County Council should submit an A4 page confirming their coverage by their local authority insurance).
- All applicants must submit a minimum of 1 quotation for each expenditure item for which grant funding is sought – we remind you to please ‘Shop Local’ where possible.
- Any statutory consents required for the project proposal must be in place at application stage and proofs submitted with your application.
Project Selection:
The following criteria are set out to assist in the identification of, and agreement on, projects for funding:
a) Need and Community Gain: the extent to which the project proposal meets an identified deficit in community & social infrastructure.
b) Policy Alignment: the extent to which the project proposal aligns with the aims and objectives of the County Development Plan, a strategic goal of the Local Economic and Community Plan,and complementarity to other Council or Government policies, programmes and objectives.
c) Value for Money: the extent to which any proposed project represents good value for money, including aspects such as:
i. Cost-effectiveness: clearly costed proposals compliant with public procurement.
ii. Capacity: project has capacity to be delivered on time and in budget.
iii. Quality: level of match funding required v outputs of phased/completed project.
iv. Deliverability: capable of being delivered within scheme / funding timescales.
v. Sustainability: arrangements for future maintenance in place.
