- Tax Clearance
From 1st January 2016 Revenue will introduce a new electronic Tax Clearance Certificate processing system, which will end the issuing of paper certificates.
* Applications in eTax Clearance will be processed in real time
* Processing of tax clearance applications, the certificates issued by the Collector-General and the verification by third parties, is all in electronic format – NO PAPER CERTS!
* Where a taxpayer is found to be non-compliant with their obligations their tax clearance certificate can be rescinded (or withdrawn).
1. The same rules apply as before re the €10,000 limit, Vat inclusive within a 12 month period.
2. TCC verification checks will be made on a periodic basis.
3. TCC will not be date driven as before. Instead the supplier tax clearance status returned by Revenue after 1st January 2016 will be either TRUE or FALSE for compliance at that given date. If FALSE for compliance is returned by Revenue, no payments will issue.
4. Tax clearance applies at Grant/Contract award (and even contract tendering) stage, and also at payment stage. (Please see link at the end of the page for more information)

5. Charity (CHY) numbers are excluded from tax clearance, unless it’s a payment that finances construction operations and then it would have an RCT number. For information CHY numbers can be manually checked on the Revenue website as full lists of approved charities are published on the website http://www.revenue.ie/en/business/charities.html.
