Galway County Council has had a direct and significant input into the preparation of the community’s plan. There is a shared responsibility between the community, County Council and
other agencies to ensure that the spirit and essential elements of the Integrated Area Plan are realised. The aim of the Kinvara Local Area Plan is to take on board the community’s vision to the best ability of the County Council. This is achieved by providing a framework for actions that are within remit of the County Councils functions and the Planning
and Development Acts. This Plan therefore sets out a strategy to manage change so that development is carried out in a planned manner. The aim is to have an integrated approach so that the pace of
residential development is matched by the provision of social, educational, commercial and recreational facilities alongside the provision of infrastructure.
While the Local Area Plan is for a period of six years from the date on which it is adopted it also provides a longer term vision.
