Rinville Park is nestled in a gently undulating landscape on the shore of Galway Bay, south of Galway City and Oranmore Town. Wind has shaped the western and northern boundaries of the woods but the interior of the Park is largely sheltered by the extensive woodland.

The Park includes a Slí na Sláinte walking route, trails through woodland and a public playground within old garden walls and barbeque areas and an Outdoor Gym.

The Park includes the built heritage of Rinville Castle and Rinville Hall:

In 1574, a member of the Burke family, Richard McThomas Oge, was recorded as the earliest known owner of the castle and lands at Rinville. Rinville Hall was a late Georgian house consisting of two stories over a basement.

Except for a time in the 1820's, when Lord and Lady Wallscourt lived here, while their home across Rinville Bay at Ardfry Castle was being restored, the house remained the property of the Athy family until 1944. Thereafter it passed through the hands of Mr. P. Daly and later of Lord Hemphill of Tulira Castle near Gort. The house was eventually destroyed by a fire in 1976. The gate lodge for the house is at the upper car park entrance to Rinville Park.
