Galway County Council provides a number of youth supports.
Comhairle na nÓg
Comhairle na nÓg (www.comhairlenanog.ie) are child and youth councils in the 31 local authorities of the country, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.
Local Area Comhairlí
There are Local Area Comhairlí – Ballinasloe, Loughrea, Oranmore, Tuam, and Connemara (North Connemara covering the non-Irish speaking and South Connemara covering Irish speaking). Youth Work Ireland Galway works with the young people to ensure that they have a positive experience and facilitates the meetings of the committee.
County Wide Committee
In addition to the local area committees, a County wide committee meets once a month. The committee members are selected to represent their local area on this committee. As well as working on a ‘County Wide Issue’ the county committee gets involved in national consultations and attends a number of events nationally and locally.
Every year County Galway Comhairle na nÓg holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM). At the AGM, the progress on issues identified at the previous year's meeting is presented and those in attendance vote on the topic for the next year.

Dáil na nÓg
Dáil na nÓg is the National Youth Parliament of Ireland. It gives young people the opportunity to represent the views of those under the age of 18 years at a national level and to call for change to improve the lives of young people in Ireland. Young people are elected to Dáil na nÓg through their local Comhairle na nÓg. One representative from each Comhairle na nÓg is elected to the Dáil na nÓg Council. They work on recommendations from the Dáil and try to make changes for young people in those areas.
