Galway County Council, on behalf of the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), invites applications for funding from non-profit community & voluntary groups within the Galway County administrative area under the Local Enhancement Programme 2025. The Local Enhancement Programme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and administered by the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) in each local authority area.
Galway County Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) will administer the following capital funding under the Programme:
- Capital Funding (€175,000) to support groups to carry out necessary repairs and improvements to their facilities, and to purchase equipment for community use.
- Current Funding (€30,515) to support small grassroots groups such as Men’s/Women’s Sheds with their non-pay running costs, e.g. insurance, electricity, heating, etc.
The Local Enhancement Programme will support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas to carry out necessary repairs and improvements to their facilities, purchase equipment, for example, tables and chairs, tools and signage, laptops and printers, lawnmovers, canopies and training equipment etc. As well as their non pay running cost, for example, energy costs (electricity costs, refuse charges, heating charges) or other non-pay operating costs for example rental/lease costs, insurance bills.
Under the programme, Galway County LCDC will ringfence a proportion of funding to provide small capital grants of €1,000 or less, which will allow a larger volume of groups with limited resources to receive funding.
The scheme is designed to ensure local priorities are identified and met, in order to improve and enhance community facilities for all. Applications should relate to one or more key priority areas identified in the LCDC’s Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) in order to be eligible for consideration. The LECP can be viewed at Galway County LECP 2024-2030
Applicants should apply via our online grants system at https://galwaycoco.submit.com/
